Public liability
If you clip a pedestrian or scrape a car, you can be held personally responsible. Public liability is the cover that pays, and it ranges from £1m to £5m across the specialist policies.

Liability limits are per incident and apply whatever your scooter is worth. They matter most on a Class 3 scooter on the road, where collisions with cars and cyclists are possible. In 2023, 17 people died in reported collisions involving mobility scooters in Great Britain (DfT).
Two practical checks: whether the limit applies abroad, and whether it covers anyone else who rides your scooter. Surewise and Fish both cover multiple users.
